The Regional Office of Customs and Excise for South Sulawesi, in collaboration with Makassar Customs, has just carried out the destruction of evidence from enforcement actions. This step is part of an ongoing effort to suppress the circulation of excisable goods that do not comply with statutory provisions in the Eastern Indonesia region. The phenomenon of illegal cigarette and liquor circulation often poses a serious threat to domestic market stability and public health.

A total of 31.9 million cigarettes and 1.6 thousand liters of ethyl alcohol-containing beverages (MMEA) have been officially destroyed. These items are the accumulation of various enforcement operations carried out by officers in the field over a certain period. The destruction process was carried out with strict standard procedures to ensure that the illegal goods no longer have economic value and cannot be misused again by irresponsible parties.

This destruction action not just a ceremony, but a strong message to illegal industry players that the state is present to uphold justice.
